Mass Gathering events and locations need to have security planning to include the concepts and principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), popularised by the term, Designing Out Crime. Chris will provide an introduction to the essential concepts and principles of the capabilities and limitations of CPTED, including the planning considerations essential for controlling public space, crowd movements and minimising the risk of vehicular attacks, such as the July 2016 terror attack in the French city of Nice, with a truck driven through crowds on Bastille Day.
